About Us
At our core, we firmly believe in valuing and respecting the natural world around us.
For the past decade, Flying Creek Trees has been a dream of ours. It's finally time for us to take
the plunge and build this business from the roots up.
The Flying Creek Story
Just like many people did, about 12 years ago we started a shelterbelt with free seedlings from the PFRA (Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration). Planting the seedlings took a weekend but watering, weeding and nurturing continued for years. This was a challenge because we had no running water or power where we planted. Hauling water and being hunched over for days weeding by hand and creating tree wells was our reality.
Our hard work paid off and we had about 90% of our trees survive. Our shelterbelt is thriving now and requires minimal maintenance. The work was difficult but worth it to have a shelterbelt with spruce, lilacs, poplars, and willows.
We love the process of growing trees. Its exciting to watch a cutting taken in the spring flourish into a tree. The best part of all, is that we get to work outside in our beautiful yard in the summer.
If you have been looking for small affordable trees to grow your shelterbelt or fill in the gaps where the seedlings didn’t take, we can help.
We not only stock our own trees but we work with Saskatchewan nurseries to source the hardiest trees.
We appreciate your consideration of our business for your shelterbelt trees. We are excited to work with you and contribute to the beauty of your landscape.
Finding Affordable Solutions for Planting Shelterbelts and Windbreaks
Local greenhouses are known to be a great source for large trees and shrubs. However, the cost of these trees can be too steep for those who need to plant a significant amount in a windbreak or shelterbelt. Luckily, we offer trees that are bigger than seedlings, but smaller than those found in greenhouses, at an affordable price.
Our focus is on providing shelterbelt and windbreak trees, which means that we may not have as many varieties as greenhouses, but we do have larger quantities of the stock we carry.
